Material Choices

Purlavue focuses on using clean simple ingredients. The goal: keeping a product’s ingredients clean and simple while maintaining functionality and beauty. The outcome: high grade non-toxic clear silicone combined with granulated natural cork.

Platinum Silicone:

Silicone has long since been used as a more eco-friendly alternative to plastic as it doesn’t produce microplastics and when using high grade, is non-toxic. Silicone elastomers have been widely valued for maintaining high flexibility, resistance to moisture, durability, and stability against high and low temperatures making it an ideal material to use in household products. To even further enhance the products of Purlavue, clear platinum RTV food grade silicone is used. Platinum RTV silicone is known for improved mechanical properties in tear strength and longevity over non platinum silicones. Silicone became a clear choice for production as the base material in support of Purlavue’s mission.

Granulated Cork:

As simple non-toxic materials are important to Purlavue’s mission, so is the design functionality and visible beauty of its products. From testing of numerous granulated resources, cork has shown tremendous success. Providing not only functionality with the design but also aesthetic appeal, cork succeeds as a material of choice when combined with a silicone base. Cork is naturally anti-microbial, heat resistant, has low thermal conductivity, is environmentally friendly, lightweight, waterproof, and stain resistant. The combination of earth’s natural cork material with the superior silicone base, provides for no undesirable hygroscopic property even under certain high temperature and high humidity conditions. Thus, the shape of the product is not deformed even under such conditions. With so many benefits, it’s easy to see why cork stands out as a clear viable resource.

Multipurpose Designs

Purlavue’s products are designed to not be just another product cluttering up your home. Not only does its heat rating allow for use as a hot pad, the herringbone design supports as a fluid/water caddy and drying aid. Its square shape allows for multiple pieces to seamlessly come together as an option for larger surface protection of your choosing. This utilizes the benefits of silicone’s flexibility and softness yet strength and firmness for support. Extensive time and testing has gone into ensuring a multi-use capability to support the multitasking complexities of your day.
